If you're a fan of Google Voice and a Sprint Wireless account, you have good reason today to celebrate; Have joined Google and Sprint together to give unprecedented customization of Google Voice users on their mobile phones.

Here's how it works: If you have a Sprint phone, you can now choose to use your existing mobile number as your Google Voice number, or have your Google Voice number to take the place of your Sprint phone number.  Whichever option you select, the number – when the compound-can be configured to ring multiple phones (your Sprint phone home, Office, vacation home, etc.) so you never miss another call.  Voicemail service Google Voice will replace the existing service, and the same basic functionality of Google Voice voicemail transcripts remain as, email and/or text message alerts, etc.  International telephone calls are also using your Google voice number for reduced for petty expenses.

This service is compatible with all phones with Sprint, including brand Sprint Android phones.

While the service is free, minutes used continue to be deducted from your monthly allotment of voice.  You must have a Google Voice account as well.

But don't get too excited just yet; the new Google Talk will be included in an upcoming over-the-air 2.3.4 Android OS update for the Nexus and will not be downloading single for some time (if ever).  Android users who do not have a Nexus's presumably will have to wait until the device is updated to 2.3.4 Android (and most are still stuck with 2.2.1, to say nothing of 2.3) or until Google decides to make available this Google Talk app through the Marketplace as a standalone download.

Features include chat video over Wi-Fi or 3 g/4 g (if your carrier supports it), as well as the chance to chat with someone using Gmail or a video-capable version of Google Talk, regardless of the device.
